Philippe Chin is as much known for his culinary creative genius as for his distinctive persona. The Maitres Cuisiniers (Master Chef) of France, Chin is just as likely to be found tooling around the CSRA on his Harley-Davidson as behind the stove at his latest venture, CUIZINE.
Born in Paris France and raised with influences from his Chinese grandfather, Chin comes by his refined Global cuisine naturally. A James Beard Foundation nominee for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic in 1997, Chin was the chef and owner of Chanterelles and executive chef of Philippe on Locust in Philadelphia.
Chin specializes in French-Asian cuisine, which reflects his ethnic background. The 46-year-old is the youngest inductee of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France organization and trained at L’École Hôtelière de Paris
From Bon Appetit and Gourmet magazine to The New York Times, AAA and esteemed food critics around the country. Chef Chin has won widespread acclaim for a career that spans over two decades and multiple countries.
As of 2009, Chin is the executive chef of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Chin is overseeing a team of four managing chefs and 31 other kitchen members and creating all menus offered at the convention center’s events,.
