Regarded as one of America’s top Chinese chefs, Susanna Foo presents dishes from her homeland at her two restaurants, Susanna Foo Chinese Cuisine and Suilan by Susanna Foo.

Susanna is acclaimed for her blend of fresh, seasonal ingredients, classical culinary techniques and Chinese cuisine. Food & Wine named Foo as one of America’s 10 Best New Chefs 1989; she also received the coveted Robert Mondavi Culinary Award of Excellence in 1999 and the James Beard Award for Best Chef, Mid-Atlantic Region 1997.

Her first cookbook, Susanna Foo Chinese Cuisine received the James Beard Foundation’s International Cookbook Award in 1996. In 2009, Susanna Foo’s  Walnut Street staple that opened in Philadelphia 22 years ago was one of the pillars of Philly’s Restaurant Row. It closed its doors in August and moved on to focusing on the greener pastures of her more casual suburban spot, Susanna Foo Gourmet Kitchen.
