Hisham Johari joins Wynn Las Vegas as Executive Chef of Red 8, a bustling and vibrant Asian eatery specializing in Southeast Asian flavors and Cantonese cuisine. The Red 8 menu recalls the Malaysian food served by Johari’s mother, combined with the exotic flavors of Thailand and Indonesia.
Johari began his culinary career in his native Malaysia when, after earning a Certificate in Business Studies from the Malaysian Institute of Technology, he attended a culinary training school. His first restaurant job was at the Holiday Inn in Kuala Lumpur, where he received the practical training he needed to move on to other ventures. His career path brought him to Beijing and then to the Raffles Hotel in Singapore.
At 21 years old, Johari was named “Best Young Chef in Malaysia” by the Chefs Association of Malaysia and earned a “Golden Circle Award” for his exemplary work at the Holiday Inn.
