This pretty dish is great for warm summer nights. It is also very flexible. Chicken can be substituted for the shrimp and a variety of fruit can be used in the salsa. Try pineapple, peaches or even blueberries.

This Korean soup uses a couple of skills that are good to master. One is making a suitable soup stock and the other is how to saute some vegetables. The rest is just construction and everyone can do that. It is my mom’s and my take on Kahl Gook Soo ( 칼국수).

Store fresh udon noodles in the refrigerator or in the freezer. If you don’t have fresh udon noodles, you can substitute with dry pasta or dried noodles of your choice. The vegetables are up to you – keep the vegetables thinly sliced so that they cook quickly. Sliced zucchini, small broccoli florets, cabbage and even frozen corn/peas are great.
Chinese Pork Ribs with Daikon and Dried Oysters

This is a Chinese recipe using dried oysters (which is perfect for Chinese New Year). The entire thing is slow braised to bring out all of the flavors – the sweetness of the daikon, tender pork ribs and saltiness of the oysters. The goji berries also add a little fruity sweet element.

This easy to make this green bean and potato sautéed dish which goes best with Indian breads or rice. When shopping for fresh green beans, look for the bright green and crisp, firm ones rather than the softer, flimsy ones. The best ones will make a snapping noise when broken in half. For Thanksgiving, instead of the common green bean casserole, this is a great substitute for something different, much more delicious, nutritious, and less fattening.
Filipino Chicken Barbecue (Inihaw na Manok)

Filipino barbecue is often marinated in a mixture that includes 7-Up or Sprite, likely for its tenderizing effect. Our family recipe contains no catsup, which is often mentioned in online recipes as either part of the marinade or a component of the basting mixture. Paired with achara (pickled green papaya), it’s a classic Filipino combination.
